Overview

The Smart Forest Platform is a geospatial technology-driven platform for forest area analysis. It leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI), forestry data, and satellite imagery to monitor and sustainably protect forest areas.

Challenge

  • Designing for Complex Geospatial Data: Translating intricate geospatial and AI-driven insights into intuitive and actionable visual interfaces for diverse user groups (e.g., foresters, environmental agencies, researchers).

  • Ensuring Usability & Accessibility: Creating a user experience that is both powerful for expert users and accessible for those less familiar with advanced geospatial tools, while maintaining clarity and ease of navigation.

  • Visualizing Dynamic Information: Developing effective and scalable UI solutions to represent constantly updating data (e.g., deforestation alerts, forest health metrics) in a clear and comprehensible manner.

  • Balancing Functionality with Simplicity: Striking the right balance between providing comprehensive features required for detailed analysis and maintaining a clean, uncluttered interface to prevent user overwhelm.

User Interface Survey

Aligning UI Direction with Stakeholder Vision : Navigating diverse stakeholder preferences and expectations for the platform's visual design and user interface required structured feedback collection and consensus building. A dedicated User Interface Survey was conducted to inform design decisions and ensure alignment with stakeholder vision.

Research and Researchhh..

To ensure the Smart Forest Platform effectively met user needs, extensive research was conducted to deeply understand both the buyer and user groups. This involved various methodologies to gather insights into their behaviors, motivations, and pain points, culminating in the creation of detailed Personas that guided the design process.

Low Fidelity-Wireframe

Low-fidelity wireframes were developed as a crucial step to align all teams on the platform's visual layout and core functionalities. This approach facilitated early feedback and ensured a shared understanding of the user flow and system structure before proceeding to higher-fidelity designs.

MVP & Launch

The UX/UI design efforts culminated in the successful release of the platform's Minimum Viable Product (MVP). This strategic launch allowed for immediate user engagement, enabling the collection of crucial real-world insights and feedback to iteratively refine and enhance the product's design and functionality.

Gathering User Feedback

Following the MVP launch, a systematic approach was implemented to gather comprehensive user feedback. This involved collecting insights and suggestions directly from users regarding their experience, usage patterns, and pain points, which were then instrumental in guiding subsequent design iterations and feature enhancements.

Information Architecture

Leveraging the insights gained from user feedback, the information architecture was meticulously structured. This involved defining core modules and mapping them according to the organizational characteristics and functional requirements of the various user groups, ensuring a logical and intuitive system navigation.

Let's Design

With a clear Information Architecture in place, the design phase commenced, adhering strictly to core UX/UI Design principles. To ensure maximum efficiency and consistency, a robust design framework was established, encompassing the development of a comprehensive Design System, precise Design Tokens, and strategic implementation of the AntDesign Framework.

More details on this structured design approach can be found under Design Structure

User Screen Flow

To ensure seamless communication and a unified understanding across all teams, detailed screen flows were meticulously crafted. These visual representations provided a clear roadmap of system interactions, facilitating alignment on design implementation and overall functionality.
